The US Senate voted to keep the war going. On Wednesday, senators voted 53 to 47. They blocked a resolution that would have limited President Trump's power to attack Iran. That means Trump can keep ordering strikes without asking Congress first.

This vote is a big deal. The US Constitution says Congress — not the president — has the power to declare war. Some senators tried to use the War Powers Act to stop the war or at least force a vote. They failed. The final count was 53 against the resolution, 47 in favor.

What supporters of the war said: Republican senators who voted against the resolution said Iran is a threat to the United States and Israel. They said Trump needs the freedom to act fast in a war zone.

What opponents said: Democratic senators who supported the resolution said Congress is being cut out of a major war. They argued that over 1,000 people have now died in Iran, and lawmakers should have a say.

What Else Happened Today

Bombing of Tehran continues. US and Israeli forces carried out more strikes on Iran on Wednesday. Iranian state media showed damage to a police station in Tehran. Civilians placed Iranian flags in the rubble. The death toll since Saturday, February 28, now stands at more than 1,045 people, according to Al Jazeera.

Israel hits Beirut again. Israeli warplanes struck Dahiyeh, a neighborhood in southern Beirut. Smoke was visible near the city's airport. Dahiyeh is where Hezbollah has a strong presence. People are fleeing Lebanon into Syria.

Hezbollah leader speaks on TV. Naim Kassem, the leader of Hezbollah, gave a speech on television. His supporters in Dahiyeh fired guns into the air in response. Kassem has led Hezbollah since 2024 after the death of Hassan Nasrallah.

Defense Secretary Hegseth warns of more. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said more American troops are on their way to the Middle East. He called the war "just getting started."

NATO missile debris lands in Turkey. NATO intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile. Debris from the interception fell into waters near Turkey. Turkish officials confirmed the incident.
